If you watched MTV back in the ’90s, you might remember one particular show helmed by the legendary Cindy Crawford and then later skyrocketed by the curvy Daisy Fuentes before the show’s eventual cancellation: The House of Style. A monumental precursor to some of the best fashions outlined specifically by the ever-present supermodel craze (not coincidentally derived from, yes, Cindy Crawford). Well, guess what? There’s a new House of Style. Only it’s not a show.
Introducing Dereon. It’s a fashion line created by none other than Beyoncé Knowles and Tina Knowles of celebrity fame. The official clothing brand name is actually the House of Dereon, inspired by Beyoncé’s grandmother Agnez Dereon, a self-taught seamstress with her own personal line of clothing and home furnishings back in the day. History laces itself around Beyoncé and Tina’s whole line as an homage to the memory of the famous mother and grandmother, a great pioneer in their eyes to the world of fashion. Accentuating curves while appealing to the sleek, dark silky look, this stylistic regime hits the mark for the demographic.
It’s in essence a new “house of style,” founded by the history of fashion in the best way. Everyone these days loves Beyoncé. She is, in fact, one of the great pinnacles of fashion, not to add yet another spectacular facet of her tremendous clothing line other than the foundation built by her own grandmother. Think back to Destiny’s Child, and you’ve got it: anything she creates stands as top of the line, high quality, fierce, and fun. Tied in with Jay-Z, cool urban hip hop artist and Beyoncé’s husband, and you’ve got that winning combination leading toward a wonderful clothing line.
