Men have to be ready for special occasions, Unfortunately, as you may have learned, that means you can’t have just one pair of sneakers for all occasions. It’s nice when your responsibility is to be in a wedding because often times the rented tuxedo comes with shoes. However, you’re never too far off from needing to attend a funeral, a nice dinner, or even a rehearsal dinner. While it’s fine to putt around in the same pair of shoes a majority of the time, it’s important to keep these in your closet for when you need them
1.) Regular brown or black dress shoes- You don’t have to get stiff and shiny black shoes like your CEO wears. Brands like Sketchers actually make very comfortable dress shoes that will not chafe at your achilles or make your heel sore. If you have an office job, you will not get ahead wearing sneakers at work. You are much better off wearing a comfortable pair of dress shoes and a pair of black socks. These shoes will also come in handy for a wedding or other function where you would be expected to wear nicer shoes.
2.) Sandals- While many men choose to wear sneakers and white tube socks to the beach, this is simply not the way to go. Open toe sandals on the beach goes together like peanut butter and bread. Interestingly, it takes a lot of men time to come around to the idea of sandals if they ever do at all. Retire your sneakers for the summer in favor of either strap sandals or more the slip on variety. You’ll find you get much longer life out of your sneakers that way.
3.) Separate sneakers for the gym- Ideally, you will not be wearing your everyday sneakers to the gym. It simply is not that sanitary to wear sweat in your sneakers at the gym and then wear them at work. Keep two pairs of sneakers and both will last you longer.
